Bicyclist injured in crash with car Nov. 20 in downtown Fort Myers dies from his injuries

A Fort Myers police report reveals new details about the moments leading to the discovery of an unresponsive child at a Fort Myers lake, near a residence.

A Fort Myers man who was hit by a car and injured while bicycling in downtown Fort Myers has died from his injuries.

Fort Myers police said an investigation is continuing with charges pending.

Michael Francis Eyth, 76, was crossing Fowler Street, in the middle of the roadway, on Nov. 20, when a 2020 Chevrolet driven by Clarence Whickum of Leigh Acres, traveling south on Fowler approaching Second Street, hit Eyth.

Eyth suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and died Monday.

A police report said Wickham was not injured.

Eyth was at least the 100th person to die on Lee County roads in 2021 according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
