Bicyclist in 'serious' condition after being struck by car at Exeter intersection

EXETER – A bicyclist suffered “serious” injuries Wednesday night after he was struck by a car at the intersection of Front and Winter streets, according to police.

Police Chief Stephan Poulin said officers and EMS personnel responded to the report of an accident involving a bicycle and a Subaru Impreza around 8 p.m.

Poulin said a 39-year-old man riding a motorized bicycle was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital for further treatment. He did not release the name of the person.

The preliminary investigation, Poulin said, showed the driver of the Impreza was driving on Front Street and attempted to turn left on Winter Street when the crash occurred.

The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit were called in to assist with the investigation, Poulin said.

Poulin said the driver was uninjured and remained at the scene and has fully cooperated with the investigation. He said no charges have been filed as of Thursday morning.
