Always wanted an authentic piece of "Lonesome Dove"?

The effects of Bill Wittliff, the Austin screenwriter, novelist, publisher, photographer and co-founder of the Wittliff Collections at Texas State University, will go up for auction at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Vogt Auction Galleries in San Antonio.

Wittliff died suddenly on June 9, 2019. He is best remembered for adapting Larry McMurtry's novel, "Lonesome Dove," into a beloved TV mini-series.

Earlier this year, Vogt auctioned off items from McMurtry's estate. This weekend, Wittliff aficionados can bid in person, by phone, through a sealed bid or live online. For information and a full catalog, go to vogtauction.com.
