President Biden’s reelection campaign dropped a Latino-focused ad targeting former President Trump for his remarks in which he called immigrants “rapists” who were “poisoning the blood” of the country.

The 30 second ad entitled “Change,” shared exclusively first with The Hill, features remarks from Biden in Arizona this week calling out his political rival’s controversial rhetoric.

“This election is an election between me and a guy named Trump. This is a guy who calls Latinos criminals, drug dealers, and rapists. Now he says immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country,” Biden said, with audio of Trump saying “rapists” and “poisoning the blood of our country.”

“What the hell is he talking about?” Biden said. “The reason we’re as good as we are is because we are the most diverse country in the world.”

The new spot will begin airing this weekend on digital platforms in Spanish and English as a part of the campaign’s $30 million ad buy following the State of the Union address. The ad buy targets battleground states, including Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Florida, which notably has been thrown into the mix of battleground states with this ad drop.

“Let’s call Trump’s words and actions what they are: anti-Latino, anti-immigrant, and anti-American,” the campaign’s Hispanic media director Maca Casado said. “President Biden knows diversity is our strength, and while Donald Trump recycles his cheap ad from 2020 to attempt to ‘win over’ Latinos, our community knows it’s Joe Biden who is really fighting for them and just how terrible a Trump presidency would be for our community.”

It is the second Latino-focused ad dropped this week by the campaign and the second ad dropped on Friday. The first Latino-focused ad, “Only One Choice,” came out on Tuesday and outlined the different policies between Biden and Trump for Latino voters.

The ad the Biden campaign dropped earlier on Friday came ahead of the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) passage and hammers Trump’s record on health care and his threats to repeal the law.

Biden focused on outreach to Latinos this week during visits to Arizona, Nevada, and Texas. To coincide with those trips, the Biden campaign on Tuesday launched Latinos con Biden-Harris, which is a national program to engage and mobilize Latino voters.
