Biden explains his objection to sending Ukraine F-16 fighters

The U.S. leader stopped to speak to journalist on the South Lawn of the White House as he was returning from his residence at Camp David on Feb. 6.

When journalists asked Biden why he still opposes sending F-16s to Ukraine, he said "because we should keep them here. That’s a totally different situation."
Earlier, on Jan. 30, Biden told reporters that Washington would not provide Kyiv with F-16 fighter jets.

Later, the White House defended the U.S. president's position of not sending F-16s to Ukraine. Officials pointed to aid that the United States is already sending or has announced, including Abrams tanks.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov noted that every weapon that has been supplied to Ukraine has “gone through a rejection phase.”
