Biden lands in UK's Cornwall for G7 summit

On his first trip abroad since taking office, Biden will be spending the night at the Tregenna Castle hotel before meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday (June 10) and attending a meeting with leaders of the Group of Seven advanced economies starting Friday (June 11).

The summit is expected to be dominated by vaccine diplomacy, trade, climate and an initiative for rebuilding infrastructure in the developing world. U.S. officials see that effort as a way to counter China's growing influence.

Biden's eight-day mission to rebuild trans-Atlantic ties strained during the Trump era and to reframe relations with Russia will also take him to Brussels for NATO and European Unions talks and, finally, Geneva for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
