Biden says he backs filibuster changes to codify abortion rights

JULIE HYMAN: President Biden speaking just moments ago and addressing the overturning of Roe v. Wade. He said for the first time that he would support ending the congressional filibuster in order to get some legislation passed to codify a women's right to abortion access. He said we have to codify Roe v. Wade in the law.
The way to do that is to make sure that Congress votes to do that. If the filibuster gets in the way, he said it's like voting rights. We provide an exception for this, or an exception to the filibuster for this action. So it doesn't necessarily sound like he's proposing ending the filibuster permanently, but perhaps an exception in this particular case. We will continue to follow that.
