US President Joe Biden said on August 10 that he respects the decision of New York Gov Andrew Cuomo to resign in the wake of an investigation that found he sexually harassed 11 women.

The president was speaking at a White House press conference on infrastructure. When asked what impact Cuomo’s resignation would have on the Democratic Party, Biden said, “I think the impact is all on Andrew Cuomo and his decision to make that judgement. I respect his decision.”

In response to a question about Cuomo’s performance as governor, Biden said, “He’s done a hell of a job … and I mean both on everything from access to voting to infrastructure to a whole range of things. That’s why it’s so sad.”
