Monday’s expanded eligibility means families are having important conversations right now because some teenagers are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Only the Pfizer vaccine has been approved for 16- and 17-year-olds, not Moderna or Johnson and Johnson. Mass vaccination sites like the Reggie Lewis Center, the Hynes Convention Center and the Danvers Doubletree are 16 and older. Gillette Stadium is not. Nationwide, more than 900,000 teens in that age group have now gotten their first dose, and close to 200,000 have received both shots. Doctors say they have not heard of any issues among teenagers who have gotten vaccinated. But they have seen significant issues in teens who get even a mild case of COVID-19. Doctors say parents should be comforted that so many teens have already gotten their shots -- with no safety issues reported.
