Biden: Trump has 'indicted himself'

Joe Biden claimed U.S. President Trump has already indicted himself.

The democratic presidential candidate spoke to Telemundo on Thursday (December 5).

And it comes amid an historic step on whether to oust the U.S. president.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE JOE BIDEN, SAYING:

"Well, let me put it this way, I think he's indicted himself. He has said he has called at least two world leaders to try to interfere in the election, to say something bad about me and/or once of Hillary, whatever."

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE JOE BIDEN, SAYING:

"But look, the House has no alternative. Imagine if the House said, "We're not gonna-- we're gonna do anything about this." It gives a great, big flashing green to every president you can-- you can violate the Constitution with impunity. And you can't let that happen. You gotta-- you gotta set a standard."

(SOUNDBITE) (English) JOSÉ DÍAZ-BALART OF TELEMUNDO, SAYING:

"You think he violated the Constitution?"

(SOUNDBITE) (English) DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE JOE BIDEN, SAYING:

"I'm confident he did. He acknowledged he called and asked for-- asked for the help. And fortunately, even the leader of Ukraine said, "There's nothing to check out here."

House of Reps Speaker Nancy Pelosi directed a congressional committee to draft articles of impeachment on Thursday.

Reuters sources say the panel could approve the impeachment charges by December 12th.
