On Monday, President Joe Biden turned 81. Given his recent polling and concerns about his age, the milestone isn't exactly something that White House is eager to publicize.

Fortunately for them, Biden's big day falls during Thanksgiving week this year, so there were turkeys to pardon as part of the White House's annual tradition.

The lucky turkeys, named Liberty and Bell, both weigh over 42 pounds, per CNN.

"That's a big bird, man. I'm impressed" Biden said during the South Lawn event. "I hereby pardon Liberty and Bell. Congratulations, birds."

Less fortunately for Biden and his aides, the president made a huge mistake during the ceremony: He confused one famous pop star for another as he noted that the turkeys traveled over 1,000 miles to Washington DC.

"You could say that's even harder than getting a ticket to the Renaissance Tour. Or Britney's tour. She's down, it's kinda warm down in Brazil right now," Biden said.

He was, of course, trying to make a reference to Taylor Swift and her ongoing Eras tour, which is currently making its way through South America. Swift performed in Brazil on Friday. On Saturday, Britney was spotted at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, 6,300 miles away.

Close enough, Joe!
