STORY: "Make no mistake, the United States does not emphasize seek conflict with Iran, but be prepared for us to act forcefully to protect our people. That’s exactly what happened last night," Biden told reporters at a joint news conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during an official visit to Canada.

The attack against U.S. personnel took place at a coalition base near Hasakah in northeast Syria at approximately 1:38 p.m. (1038 GMT), the Pentagon said on Thursday (March 23).

The retaliatory strikes targeted facilities used by groups affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
