Big Bend football Friday night roundup: Nov. 26

And then there were two.

After the dust had settled on Friday's regional championship games, only two Big Bend teams remain in the hunt for a state championship. In 1A Madison County blew out Blountstown, while in 3A Florida High edged Trinity Catholic. They were the lucky ones as Munroe and Wakulla saw their seasons come to an end.

It's the final busy night of football in the Big Bend before the field narrows out next week. Here's what happened.

Cowboys dominate Tigers

Madison County - 0, 14, 7, 14 - 35

Blountstown - 0, 0, 0, 0 - 0

Scoring:

1Q Tommie House 63-yard rushing TD, PAT GOOD, 7-0 MC

2Q Keshaun Mitchell 4-yard rushing TD, PAT GOOD, 14-0 MC

3Q Jonathan Akins 70-yard punt return for TD, PAT GOOD, 21-0 MC

4Q Jamie Hampton 5-yard rushing TD, PAT GOOD, 28-0 MC

4Q Jaohn Jackson 20-yard rushing TD, PAT GOOD, 35-0 MC

Quotable:

"I'm just proud of our kids," Cowboys head coach Mike Coe said. "They're just getting better. We had a great week of practice. Nobody was late or missed. You would've thought we were in schools. We just kept on rocking. They did really well. Started off a little rocky, but finished well." Madison County head coach Mike Coe

"We're hated," Hampton said. "People want to see our downfall, so we gotta come out and play our game to prove people wrong. We've got a lot of doubters in 1A and Florida high school football. The way we play is different than how they play other teams. That's what makes us so good, and makes them hate us." Madison County junior quarterback Jamie Hampton

Quick take:

Madison County shouldn't be a three-seed. The Cowboys have just dominated this regional field and have not shown any sign of slowing down. They had a wall on defense that gave Blountstown no room and ran wild on offense. It'll be interesting to see how they stack up against Chiefland.

Quick take:

Trinity was going to be a challenging game for Florida High, but the Seminoles are returning to Tallahassee as 3A-1 champions. They avenge last season's regional loss and head into a very competitive 3A pool. This is where the Seminoles' strengths will truly show, facing top-ranked Chaminade-Madonna on the road.

More: Sack-clenny: Orlando Holland's seven sacks lead Baker County past Wakulla into final four

Quick take:

I gotta give this Wakulla team a lot of credit. They started off the season struggling to find opponents, dealing with a lot of COVID-19 cancellations, and were concerned about numbers and depth. They finish off the 2021 season at 5A-1 region runner-ups. It's an exciting end for this senior class and big-time motivation for next year.

Prediction:

Williams - Wakulla

Quotable:

“I told them I love them,” head coach Alex Lehky said after hugging groups of his players after the game. “Now there are some guys that have to make sure their grades are good so they can get anywhere they’re trying to go for next year. That’s a big goal of our school and our program. Helping guys get to the next level and we have a bunch of seniors that are going to do that this year. My message to them was thank you and I love you. I’ll do anything for you and we’re going to continue to do anything for them and get them ready for signing day.” Munroe head coach Alex Lehky

More: Big night from Treyaun Webb propels Trinity Christian past Munroe to state semifinals

Quick take:

This is the next stepping stone for Munroe. After picking up a program first playoff win last week and advancing to the regional championship for the first time, its next step is to control this region. They put up a strong fight against Trinity Christian, and in the future, this matchup may end in Munroe's favor.

Prediction:

Williams - Trinity Christian
