Big Brother spoilers follow.

The cast of Big Brother 2023 have received their first economy shopping budget of the season after failing the Happy Happy Happy Camp shopping task.

On last night's episode (October 16) of the newly rebooted reality show, the housemates were told that in order to win a luxury shopping budget for the house this week, they had to partake in Big Brother's Happy Happy Happy Camp task.

The series of challenges saw the housemates spend 24 hours outside (save for Kerry, Olivia, Paul and Jenkin, who slept inside as VIP glampers), set up tents, laugh continuously for five minutes and — importantly — "stay happy".

As the 24 hours drew to a close, Big Brother gathered the 15 remaining housemates around the fire pit to inform them of the results of the tasks.

While the assembled campers passed the first two trials, multiple housemates didn't laugh enough during their third challenge and didn't "stay happy" afterwards, resulting in the first economy shopping budget of the season.

"I'm sorry I was never going to be happy about camping out in the freezing cold," said Chanelle upon being informed of the results.

As the housemates decided how to spend their budget, Noky went to the Diary Room to rant to Big Brother. She was frustrated that the cast happily spent money on dairy items and didn't get any dairy-free alternatives for her.

Elsewhere in the episode, Tom, Jenkin and Chanelle theorised about who will be nominated for eviction following a new twist that will see each housemate put two of their castmate's names down.

A row about feminism also broke out during a cooking lesson in the kitchen, and tensions continued to mount over dinner, when Zak said to Trish: "Take my name out your mouth."

The housemates also played 'Never Have I Ever', with Jordan revealing that he'd had a threesome and Yinrun asking whether her housemates had ever urinated in a swimming pool.

Big Brother airs Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. Each episode is followed by Big Brother Late & Live at 10pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
