Viewers of the newly rebooted Big Brother have spotted housemate Farida's previous TV appearance.

Big Brother's return kicked off last night (October 8), featuring hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best, a brand new Big Brother house, 16 new housemates and a house party twist that left one contestant without clothes or hot water for 24 hours.

Among the new cast was 50 year-old Farida, a makeup artist from Wolverhampton – but several eagle-eyed viewers have spotted that this isn't the first TV show she's appeared on.

"So THAT'S why Farida seemed familiar…" one Twitter/ X user wrote. "She was on Blankety Blank the other week, with former Big Brother hosts Rylan (Clark) and Emma (Willis)."

Other users have similarly pointed out the housemate's recent TV gig, especially with regards to ITV's pledge to have this season's cast be unknowns.

"Wasn't Farida just on Blankety Blank like 2 weeks ago????" one user posted, while another added: "As soon as Farida appeared I knew I'd seen her before!! She was on Blankety Blank the other day!"

Game show Blankety Blank – which was originally hosted by Paul O'Grady – isn't the only show Farida's also appeared on. She starred in an episode of Come Dine With Me in 2009.

"Is it sad that I recognised Farida straight away from a Come Dine With Me episode?" another X user asked.

Prior to entering the house, Farida said via press release that she was looking forward to representing her culture on TV.

"I'm very proud of who I am and I feel like Asian women and Asian culture is underrepresented on TV. A lot of people think that wearing a headscarf might stop you from having opportunities, whereas for me, it's been completely the opposite.

"I embrace it with confidence and it's actually given me lots of opportunities. I want to let people know that us Muslims, we really aren't suppressed. I'm far from suppressed - I used to be a holiday rep!"

Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV 2 and ITV X.
