Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Ohio to host Dance for Kids' Sake

CHILLICOTHE — Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Ohio will host the 12th annual Dance for Kids’ Sake, the agency’s largest fundraiser, on Oct 14.

The agency is well known around the community for creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. BBBSSCO serves over 100 at-risk youth throughout Ross, Pike, Pickaway, Fayette and Highland counties through Community-Based Mentoring and will support over 150 School-Based Mentoring matches at nine different schools during the 2023-2024 school year.

At this year’s event dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the show at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Ohio University Chillicothe Shoemaker Center. Being back indoors in a traditional setting will allow guests to dress up and enjoy an evening gala with dinner, entertainment, a silent auction and cash bar. It is requested that children do not attend.

Dance for Kids’ Sake is a favorite community event as local celebrities compete to raise money for the agency. This year’s celebrities include Macey Power, Brittany Walters, Kaitlyn Brown, Amy Beeler, Brooke Paul, Ryan Milliken, Sally Dunn, Donyelle Brown, Dr. Ashton Fields and Sydney Tackett. The dancers have been working hard to perfect their dance moves in order to impress the crowd and be crowned Children’s Champion – the dancer who has raised the most money for the agency. Every $1 donation equals one “vote.” Donations can be made online by clicking the dancer’s picture and selecting “donate.”

Last year the event raised a record-breaking amount for the agency, allowing BBBS to expand programming and serve more youth and families in the community. The agency is hoping for an equally successful year as youth enrollments have increased over the past year and over 50 children are currently waiting to be matched with a mentor.
