Big Brother: Late & Live has been criticised for its handling of “offensive” stereotyping in last night’s show.

The spin-off show, which is hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, airs after each episode of the main show, with the host being joined by a guest panel and live audience.

In last night’s (October 9) episode, in which Odudu was joined by Jordan Stephens, Jordan North and Yinka Bokinni, the instalment included a segment where audience members had to guess the identity of a housemate judging by photos and messages on their phone.

The first round included a photo of a dog, with the next slide incorporating a text message from the mystery owner which read: “Mimi [the dog] pissed in my bed just a second ago. I’m gonna cook her, I'm fuming.”

Stephens then went to the live audience to gather their guesses, with a couple of members suggesting that Yinrun Huang, who originally hails from Shanghai in China, was the person whose phone was on the screen.

Stephens, a former member of pop group Rizzle Kicks, awkwardly commented after the first suggestion: “Yinrun? Ok, cooking Mimi [the] dog.” After another member suggested Yinrun, he remarked: “Yinrun? Ok, interesting. I mean, sure”, with Odudu laughing awkwardly as he returned.

The presenters then quickly moved on the discussion, which drew criticism from some fans on social media, who were unhappy that the racist stereotyping wasn't called out on air during the programme.

One viewer wrote on X: "F**king hell we all know why they assumed Yinrun wrote the dog text..... And Jordan and AJ knew it too".

"Did everyone feel the cringe when those audience members thought those texts were Yinrun’s?" another person asked.

Someone else wrote: "Not them saying Yinrun for the cooking the dog comment GIRL THATS OFFENSIVE ".

Another noted the presenters' reactions, writing: "the presenters when the audience suggested Yinrun would cook her dog?????????"

“Sorry?????? The racism on #bbuk L+L????? The text mentioned cooking a dog and several people jumped to Yinrun??? And no one said anything?????????????” wrote another fan.

Elsewhere on last night's show, Big Brother fans got emotional as Hallie was supported by her housemates after coming out as transgender.

Big Brother airs on Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, with Late & Live following at 10pm.
