Big Country hoops: Snyder Tigers earn first district win over Lake View

SAN ANGELO - The Snyder boys basketball team bounced back from two close losses to earn its first district win, beating Lake View 61-36.

Dyllan Angeley led the Tigers with 20 points and seven rebounds. Eber Murillo and Jared Smith also reached double figures, notching 17 and 16 points, respectively.

The win came after Snyder lost its first two district games by a combined five points. The Tigers (9-15 overall, 1-2 district) will are back home Tuesday to face Levelland.

Brownwood at Stephenville (girls)

At Stephenville, a well-spread scoring effort fueled Stephenville to a 51-28 win over Brownwood.

Trysten Monk led the Honeybees with 10 points, with Landri Withers and Mya Wesley following with nine apiece. Brownwood’s Jaylen Savage led the Lady Lions with 12 points.

Stephenville is 20-9, 3-1 and stays at home to take on Glen Rose on Friday. Glen Rose won the first matchup between the two teams 43-35 at Glen Rose.

The Lady Lions are 18-11, 1-3 and face Glen Rose on Tuesday.

Knox City at Roby (boys)

At Roby, a strong fourth quarter pushed Roby past Knox City.

After trailing 38-35, the Lions outscored the Greyhounds 21-10 over the final eight minutes to win 56-48.

Dawson Shipp and Drew Carreon led Roby with 13 points each, and Jake Byers scored 11. For Knox City, Bryson Callaway scored 20 points and Nicholas Trevino had 17.

Roby (7-12, 3-2) is in third place in District 15-1A. The Lions will face Lueders-Avoca on Tuesday. Knox City (13-8, 4-2) is host to Aspermont.

Roscoe at Colorado City (girls)

At Colorado City, the Roscoe Plowgirls stayed undefeated in district, beating Colorado City 48-23.

On a night where Roscoe shot below 30% from the field, the Plowgirls’ defense helped them earn a 25-point win. They forced 27 turnovers, which led to 13 points.

Roscoe’s Carson Greenwood scored a game-high 18 points, while Shauna McCambridge and Cameron Greenwood scored 12 and 11, respectively. McCambridge was Roscoe’s leader on the glass, logging 15 rebounds.

The Plowgirls (19-6, 5-0) play Coleman on Tuesday.

Hamlin at Stamford (girls)

At Stamford, a game after she scored 35 points, Stamford’s Laylonna Applin had another big night against Hamlin.

She led the Lady Bulldogs with 28 points, helping them win 80-20.

Shandlee Mueller, Tylee Bevel and Audrey Brewer also finished in double figures, combining for 34 points.

The Lady Bulldogs are ranked No. 16 in the TABC 2A Girls Rankings. They are 26-2, 8-0 and face Cisco on Tuesday.

Bangs at Dublin (girls)

At Dublin, Bangs won a 36-35 nailbiter against Dublin.

Maggie Morales led the Lady Dragons with 17 points, followed by Jacee Miller with 13. Gabriyela Herrera led Dublin with 14.

The Lady Dragons are 9-18, 2-7, while the Lady Lions are 4-21, 1-7.
