Battle Creek Central's Samya Fisher, left, and Lakeview's Caleb Bost were named Most Outstanding Performers of the All-City Track Meet at Tuesday at Harper Creek.

Two athletes had one of the best days in city track this spring.

A third athlete had one of the best runs in the state.

All three highlighted the annual All-City Track Championship at Harper Creek High School on Tuesday.

As for the team trophies, Lakeview continued its dominance, sweeping both the boys and the girls meet for the 12th time in a row,

But when it came to the individual trophies, there was a little more competition as the athletes who came away with the Most Outstanding Performers awards really put on a show.

Battle Creek Central's Samya Fisher was voted the Most Outstanding Performer of the girls meet after taking four first places.

Lakeview junior Caleb Bost was named the Most Outstanding Performer for the boys  with three first places and a second. The only time he didn't cross the finish line in front was because another runner had the best time in the state so far this season and broke a longstanding school record as Harper Creek's Owen Gilbert won the 800.

"It's always a goal for us to win the city meet. We are always excited to compete against the city schools," said Lakeview boys track coach Matt Miller. "Caleb had a great day. He runs four races, won three. He runs one of the toughest doubles there is, the 400 and the 800. Hat's off to the athlete from Harper, he ran a great time in the 800.

"But the one thing I know about Caleb, is he does anything he can do to help his team win a championship. So he ran those two tough races, with only one race in between, and he did what he had to do to help us win today."

The Lakeview boys finished with 280 points to take the city title with Harper Creek second with 140.

Bost ran a personal best in the 400 to finish first with a time of 49.83.

His 3,200 relay team took first in 8:34.77 with the team of Parker LaGro, Aiden Moore, Kevin Grady and Bost. He was also the anchor leg on the 1,600 relay, which finished first in 3:34.85 with the team of Drake Morris, Josh Turner, Davis Barr and Bost.

His second place in the 800 was also a personal best at 1:55.43, following the first-place finish by Harper Creek's Gilbert who had a school-record 1:53.55, which is also the top time in the state so far this year year in all divisions.

"I didn't have a great All-City meet last year, so one of my goals was to win this award and I did, so I'm happy," Bost said. "The goal was to help the team walk out of here with first place and I got to walk home with the trophy, so it was a good day."
