A big high school basketball showcase will take place at the Save Mart Center this weekend.

For the second time, the ‘Heart of California Basketball Classic’ will take place at the Save Mart Center with 14 games taking place in a two-day period, featuring boys and girls games.

Of the players that could play is Bryce James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

Bryce James transferred back to Sierra Canyon after he was initially at Notre Dame-Sherman Oaks and is available to play once the CIF clears him, according to Tarek Fattal of SBLive Sports and SI Now.

Bronny James played in the event last season for Sierra Canyon against San Joaquin Memorial. The Trailblazers won the game 53-44.

Sierra Canyon will play Clovis North at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Other players expected to play are Sierra Canyon’s Justin Pippen, the son of Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, and St. Bernard-Los Angeles’ Tajh Ariza, the son of Trevor Ariza, who played for several NBA teams, including the Lakers.

At least 10 other players will also play, who are among the top recruits by ESPN. They are No. 21 (2025) Tounde Yessoufou (St. Joseph), No. 8 (2026) Jason Crow (Lynwood), No. 12 (2026) Ariza and No. 50 (2024) Isaiah Elohim (Sierra Canyon).

In 2022, at least 7,500 fans attended the showcase.

“Our aim is not only to promote basketball in the region but also to give back to the community that supports us. As part of our commitment to promoting equal access to sports, we donated 1000 tickets to low-income students, providing them with an unforgettable experience they might not have otherwise had the opportunity to enjoy,” organizers said.

Ticket prices vary and can be purchased at the box office or through Ticketmaster.
