The big list of Halloween fun in Lane County for kids, families and adults

Halloween may fall on a Monday this year, but there's a lot of spooky, haunted, dress-up fun to be had through the end of the month. Here's a list of Lane County events celebrating Halloween, area houses decorated for the holiday as well as where to travel for haunted houses nearby.

Halloween events

Oct. 26

Masquerade of the Macabre Horror Poetry Show: Features live music, special guests and open mic, costumes and fancy attire welcome. 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at Alluvium, 810 W. Third Ave. $5 at door, no one turned away.

DJ Smuve-Halloween edition: DJ Smuve chops it up and syncs the music to videos on the giant screen, 9:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at Blairally Vintage Arcade, 245 Blair Blvd. $5 at door.

Thursday-Saturday (Oct. 27-29)

Fright Night at the Museum: The Springfield History Museum is hosting a haunted house fundraiser, transforming the museum into a spook-tacularly scary journey through local history and water management. The haunted museum will be family-friendly, with less scares and more lights from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Then beginning at 6 p.m. the lights will go down for the scares for older kids and adults. If you make it through, there's a "recovery station" with photo ops and free snacks. It's $5, $3 for ages 5-18 and 5 and younger are free. Family of five or more are $20. Ghostly Golf: Gather your favorite fearsome foursome for 18 holes of glow-in-the-dark magic at Camp Putt, 4006 Franklin Blvd., Eugene. 7 to 9:30 p.m. $36 per group of four. Register online at willamalane.org

“Night of the Living Dead”: South Eugene Theater will present a play by Autumn Joule from the screenplay by George Romero and John Russo. 7 p.m. Oct. 27-30. $7 for students, $10 for adults at southeugenetheater.org or at the box office a half hour before the show. Halloween bike ride & dance party: Critical Mass hosts a bike ride "against petro-zombies." Meet for the ride at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at Kesey Square (Willamette Street and Broadway), with a dance party at end of ride.

Halloween show at WOW Hall: Candy Picnic, Left on Read, Kidcaid, Nothing Ever Happens and Mothra playing an all-ages Halloween, dress-up party. Doors open at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m. at WOW Hall, 291 W. Eighth Ave. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at door from ticketweb.com

THS Haunted Hallways: Thurston High School students have created pitches and prompts to transform each outdoor hallway at Thurston into a truly frightening experience. The students design, direct, and perform. Organized by Thurston Theatre students as an outreach to the community. The funds will directly benefit Thurston Theatre. From 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 28 at Thurston, 333 58th St., Springfield. Tickets are $7, $5 for students, recommended for middle school and higher, or high tolerance elementary schoolers.

Howloween: Kids can show off their costumes and learn about wildlife at the Oregon Zoo in Portland. Activities, including a scavenger hunt, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22­–23 and Oct. 28­–31, free with admission. Instead of collecting candy and toys throughout the zoo, participants can purchase pre-filled treat bags that are collected at the end of their scavenger hunt (select the treat bag add-ons when making reservation). oregonzoo.org/visit.

Saturday (Oct. 29)

Halloween Market: The Saturday Market offers Halloween activities, with some booths offering fall and Halloween-themed products for sale, some trick-or-treating, and costumes will be welcome. Consider the face painters and henna artists at the market to complete your costume or cosplay. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at Saturday Market, Eighth Avenue and Oak Street.

Halloween Downtown: Free family-friendly Halloween celebration with trick-or-treating, costumed entertainment, a frightfully fun scavenger hunt, a live DJ, food and craft vendors, a photo booth, flash mobs and even a pet parade. Teal-O-Lantern Trunk or Trinket: Teal is the color for food allergy awareness. An inclusive, non-food event for kids affected by food allergies or sugar sensitivities. Items such as stickers, pencils, erasers, etc. will be passed out from trunks. Come dressed in costume. 2:30 to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 in Grace Community Fellowship parking lot, 989 Country Club Road.

Trunk or Treat: Hosted by Neighborhood Assembly of God, a family-friendly event offering treats, picture area, games, crafts and raffles from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Irving Food Pod, 815 Irving Road, Eugene.

The Beyond the Grave Rave: Subdermal Art Collective tattoo shop hosts event with free haunted house (all ages), candy, free tattoo giveaways and flash tattoo deal (18 and older). 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at Subdermal Art Collective, 341 High St.

Candy with a Cop: Eugene Police Department staff will be curbside for a children’s safe trick or treat event at EPD headquarters, 300 Country Club Road, from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30, to provide a safe place for the kiddos to enjoy Halloween. Come get some candy and goodie bags. Parking available next door at Penfed Credit Union, 400 Country Club Road.

Pipe Screams: Halloween Pipe Organ Concert: Featuring the terribly talented members of the local American Guild of Organists Chapter, as well as University of Oregon organ students in costumes, while playing frighteningly fun Halloween music. There will be a special appearance by the Eugene Gleemen and a rendition of Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in d at 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at Beall Concert Hall at the UO School of Music. Trunk or Treat: Bethesda Lutheran Church hosts trunk or treat with free pizza, drinks, games and fun decorations including a path of blow-up decorations outside with games and pass out food inside. Y's Spooky Spectacular Halloween Party: Free party, costumes highly encouraged. The parking lot will host trunk-or-treating with Halloween-decorated vehicles, an inflatable (perhaps haunted?!) bounce house and other inflatable party games in the Tennis Center, as well as crafts, Halloween portraits and dance to the Monster Mash. No need to register, all welcome, families must accompany their children. From 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Eugene Family YMCA at 2055 Patterson St.

Trunk or Treat: Hosted by City First Christian Academy, free drinks, games and candy. 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 at City First Christian Academy, 1052 Fairfield Ave.

Trunk or Treat Halloween party: The Sheppard Motors showroom will feature decorated vehicles and trunks filled with Halloween treats and staff of will be in costumes serving warm refreshments from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 at Sheppard Motors, 2300 W. Seventh Ave., Eugene. Free parking in lot.

5514 Cardiff St.: Levi Stoffal said they are still decorating for this year, but have the house lit up as they go. "Last year we had a record of 850 trick or treaters and went through 75 pounds of candy," Stoffal said.
