Big South All-Conference basketball teams released

Mar. 20—WORTHINGTON — Three Worthington High School students were selected to the Big South All-Conference basketball teams, and two were selected as honorable mentions. All-Conference teams were split into red, white, and blue teams.

Schools in the Red Division were Pipestone Area, Windom Area, Luverne, Redwood Valley and St. James Area.

Schools in the White Division were Worthington, New Ulm, Marshall and St. Peter.

Schools in the Blue Division were Waseca, Blue Earth Area, Jackson County Central and Fairmont.

Representing the Trojans on the All-Conference White Division boys basketball team were senior Abagotte Opiew and junior Kaleb Knothe. Honorable mentions for WHS were seniors Mikele Walu and Marenono Opiew.

Selected to the All-Conference White Division girls basketball team for WHS was Tarren Spartz.

Other representatives on the All-Conference White Division boys basketball team were Andrew Elton and Omar Abdi from Marshall, Colton Benson and James Osborne from New Ulm and Tate Olson from St. Peter. Nathan Firle from New Ulm was an honorable mention.

Selected to the All-Conference White Division girls basketball team were Bri Simpson and Randi Wendorf from Marshall, Daviney Dreckman and Brooklyn Lewis from New Ulm, and Rhyan Holmgren and Annika Southworth from St. Peter. Honorable mentions were Leah Jones and Taliegha Bigler from Marshall, and Maddie Kamm from St. Peter.

Selected to the All-Conference Red Division boys basketball team were Gannon Ahrendt and Gavin DeBeer from Luverne, Rysley Borman and Merrick Heidebrink from Pipestone Area, Henry Erickson and Abe McKibbin from Windom Area, and Luke Means from Redwood Valley. Honorable mentions were Carter Sehr from Luverne, Kellen Johnson from Pipestone Area, and Alex Streseman from St. James Area.

Selected to the All-Conference Red Division girls basketball team were Christina Wagner and Elizabeth Wagner from Luverne, Arinn McGee and Aubrea Kor from Pipestone Area, Kendall Huhnerkoch from Redwood Valley, Taylor Sodeman from St. James Area, and Hadley Sammons from Windom Area. Honorable mentions were Averill Sehr and Kira John from Luverne, and Kenzie Lundeen from Redwood Valley.

Selected to the Blue Division boys basketball team were Roman Voss, Erik Hesebeck and Travis Rogotzke from Jackson County Central, Damarius Russel and Carson Ohnstad from Waseca, Ashton Lloyd from Blue Earth Area and Sawyer Torsden from Fairmont. Honorable mentions were Austin Skaden from Blue Earth Area, Levi Pooley from Fairmont and Laird Keeton from Waseca.

Selected to the Blue Division girls basketball team were Maci Farmer and Rylie Cother from JCC, Brylee Miller and Neveah Rahm from Fairmont, and Kloe Wadd, Samantha Azure and Avery Madsen from Waseca. Honorable mentions were Sophie Keister from Blue Earth Area, and Grace Pendergast and Olivia Ortega from Fairmont.
