G-Dragon’s exclusive contract with YG Entertainment, his agency of 17 years, has expired.

YG Entertainment’s statement: YG confirmed the end of the BIGBANG member’s contract in a statement to Yonhap News Agency this week.

“The exclusive contract with G-Dragon has expired,” a company official said. However, they added that there are “plans to discuss an additional contract with G-Dragon when he resumes his musical activities.”

Foreshadowing: Speculation on G-Dragon’s contract expiration arose when reports indicated he was not listed as an artist on YG’s quarterly business report for the first quarter of 2023.

Other departures from YG: Former YG labelmate T.O.P, who left YG in February 2022 after a prolonged hiatus, reconfirmed last month that he has "withdrawn" from BIGBANG. Additionally, BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesung left YG in December 2022 after their contracts came to an end.

In December 2022, BIGBANG member Taeyang signed with YG’s subsidiary label, The Black Label. He recently released the mini-album “Down to Earth,” which features the single 'Shoong,' collaboration with BLACKPINK's Lisa.
