‘Biggest fight in heavyweight history’ – Usyk promises unification fight with Fury

Usyk believes that Fury is evading the bout but assured fans that the fight will undoubtedly occur, journalist Michael Benson quoted Ukraine’s 2012 Olympic champion as saying in a June 3 tweet.

“It’s a great opportunity to bring the biggest fight in heavyweight history to the boxing fans of the whole world. Tyson Fury doesn’t want this fight, but we will make it,” said Benson.

Initially scheduled for April, the anticipated showdown between Usyk and Fury was ultimately scrapped.

Promoter Oleksandr Krasyuk revealed that Fury imposed numerous unacceptable conditions when negotiating the contract, despite the willingness from Usyk – The Ring’s No. 1 boxer in the world in 2022 – to split the purse 30-70 in Fury’s favor.

Subsequent reports suggested the possibility of Usyk and Fury crossing paths at a boxing super tournament in Saudi Arabia, which currently in the organizational stage.
