Biggest weekend of the season: 18 high school musicals on tap

The busiest weekend of the high school musical season has arrived in the Lower Hudson Valley, with 18 productions on tap.

There's a half-boy-half-bat in Pelham, "Mean Girls" at Greeley in Chappaqua and at Edgemont in Scarsdale, a carnivorous plant in Nyack, they're going to the mattresses in Suffern, and things are downright peachy in Brewster, where James has a journey ahead of him.

Sixteen musicals open this weekend and and two wrap up their two-weekend runs. The second-weekend shows are in Nyack and Thornwood.

Nyack presents "Little Shop of Horrors," at 7:30 p.m. March 24, and at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. March 25. Tickets are $12, $7 for students, seniors free. At the door.

Westlake High School in Thornwood ends a two-weekend run of "The Addams Family," with performances at 8 p.m. March 24 and 25. Tickets are $15, $10 for students and seniors. At www.mtplcsd.org/westlake_players

New Rochelle High School presents “Love's Labour's Lost,” Shakespeare’s story of men, women and the woods. Next weekend

The musical calendar eases on down the road next weekend with two productions of the same musical. Spring Valley stages "The Wiz" on March 30 and 31 and April 1. Sacred Heart in Yonkers presents "The Wiz" March 31, and April 1 and 2.
