For a New Year’s party on Dec. 27, the team reserved cabins, a sauna, a gazebo, and a conference room at the Ukrainian Village complex.

One individual, who had expressed interest in the restaurant’s layout on Dec. 20, later booked the same rooms as the editorial team on Dec. 26, including the sauna.

On that day, staff witnessed a “very strange” corporate event with 30 attendees in the restaurant.

Employees noted the presence of devices resembling fire alarms in the rooms during the event, which mysteriously disappeared upon subsequent checks.

Bihus highlighted that, after the team departed on Dec. 28, someone rebooked the same rooms. However, only a few guests arrived for the numerous reserved rooms, despite taking keys for all of them.

“They rebooked them for four days, along with the sauna. So, for four days, they filmed the lives of completely unrelated people,” he said.

A video surfaced online on Jan. 16 allegedly showing Bihus.Info staff using drugs. Bihus claimed that there had been illegal surveillance lasting about a year, with edited fragments from different times.

On Jan. 17, Ukraine’s SBU security service initiated a criminal case for illegal eavesdropping and video recording by the outlet’s employees. Law enforcement does not rule out violations of drug-related laws in the published materials.

On Jan. 15, unknown individuals attempted to break into journalist Yuriy Nikolov’s Kyiv apartment. Nikolov exposed inflated prices for Ministry of Defense products, leading to the resignation of Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and the parliament adopting a bill on transparent defense procurement. Nikolov’s mother was at home during the break-in attempt.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the pressure on journalists on Jan. 17, stating that it is unacceptable.
