Bill aims to provide mental health training to coaches

Prioritizing physical health and mental health for student-athletes is the goal of a new Maryland House bill. House Bill 375 would require coaches at public schools to receive mental health training to help them recognize signs of mental illness or distress in students. As Marcus Alston looks out onto the football field at Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore, he remembers his glory days as a student-athlete. He also remembers the moment an injury on the field changed life as he knew it.
