Bill would rename Lebanon post office “Lieutenant William D. Lebo Post Office Building”
(WHTM) – A Lebanon post office may soon bear the name of the late Lebanon City Lieutenant William Lebo, who was killed in the line of duty in 2022.
On Monday, U.S. Congressman Dan Meuser addressed the House floor and spoke on his legislation to rename the post office at 101 South 8th Street in Lebanon, as the “Lieutenant William D. Lebo Post Office Building.”
The bill, which was co-sponsored by Pennsylvania’s entire House delegation, unanimously passed in the House.
“It is my hope the renaming of this post office in his honor will further serve as a lasting recognition of his life, his legacy, during which he always put service above self,” said Meuser.
The post office is located less than a mile away from the Lebanon City Police Department.
Lt. Lebo was shot and killed in the line of duty on March 31, 2022, after responding to a domestic incident in Lebanon.
Lt. Lebo’s passing was the first time a Lebanon City police officer was killed in the line of duty since 1903 and only the third line-of-duty death in the department’s history. He had served in the department for 40 years and was weeks away from retirement.
