Bill Kirby: What's the good word? Cool off and let me know

Want to help me make up a word?

As best I can tell, there is no word or phrase of expression for that pleasant, "baking"  sense you get when stepping into a summer parking lot after spending several hours in an over-cooled movie theater or a hyper-chilled office environment.

Your brain says, "This is kind of hot."

But your body says, "This feels pretty nice."

And it does, too, for a couple of minutes.

I tried to look it up. I thought it might be something like "The Pizza Effect," "The Fake Bake" or "Oven Lovin'"

Perhaps, "Pre-Hell" or "Sauna-Gram" or "Noble Warming."

Right now, I'm leaning toward "Brimstoning," but I wondered what you think.

YOUR TRAVELS: Joy and Gene Salet were enjoying their annual vacation trip to St. Simons Island with the Haddens.

"Has been great, sun every day" they write, of a trip that included Irene, Brian and Ivey Joy Hadden; and Louise and Palmer Hadden, and dogs Belle and Friday.

RUNNING AGAINST THE WIN: Completed my 19th Peachtree Road Race on July Fourth. Just the usual 10-kilometer walk in the park. It was actually my best time in nine years, and I credit my trusty Shepeard Blood Center ballcap.

You know, Shepeard is encouraging  donations during the summer and offering Regal Movie Ticket giveaways through Saturday to donors.

You can go to shepeardblood.org to see a full list of drives, and center locations.

TODAY'S JOKE: Then there were the newlyweds. A new husband of several months came home to find his wife in tears.

"What's wrong, honey," he asked quickly.

"Well," she said between sobs, "I made you a meat loaf just like my mother used to make, but when I took it out of the oven, I dropped the dish, it fell on the floor and the dog ate it!"

"Don't worry, darling," the husband consoled her. "I'll get us a new dog."
