Bill Shaw fund: Dirty Dozen makes 63rd annual contribution
Our old friends the Dirty Dozen have come through yet again with a gift to the Bill Shaw Salvation Army Christmas Fund, just days ahead of Christmas.
This marks the 63rd year that the Dirty Dozen has made financial contributions to the fund, according to a statement from Lee Warren and Albert McCauley, the group's chairman and vice-chairman.
"The 2022 contribution of $17,183.28 is made in memory of all previous members including our long-time Chairman V.F. Talley and Bill Shaw for whom this fund is named," they said.
The group started the "Dirty Dozen Endowment Fund" through the Cumberland Community Foundation, and it now has more than $45,000 in that fund, the statement said.
The 2022 contribution is made in memory of longtime members Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler and North Carolina Highway Patrol Maj. Ralph Price.
