Bill Shaw fund helps families here in Cumberland County and the Sandhills
Your donations to the Bill Shaw Salvation Army Christmas Fund make an impact right here in the Sandhills.
Three single mothers, each with three children, recently came through the shelter via the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Continuum of Care system, said Maj. Tim Grider of the Salvation Army of the Sandhills. Within three months, each of the women had received housing, jobs and transportation. Their kids were enrolled in Cumberland County schools and in after-school care. The women and their children also reconnected with family members and were able to find a church to attend.
"They were thrilled with their individual progress, and creating hope they had lost during their life struggles," Grider said. "Every year, Bill Shaw donors support us to give folks like these three families an opportunity to reset, start over (and) reboot their lives"

Remember, the fund doesn't just help families during the Christmas season. It helps support all Salvation Army programs throughout the year, including those that provide food, shelter, education and love to families in crisis. The staff at the Salvation Army is extremely grateful for the support, as are all the employees at the Observer. There’s no doubt that longtime Observer photographer Bill Shaw, for whom the fund is named, would be proud.
Write your tax-deductible check to the Bill Shaw Salvation Army Christmas Fund and mail it to the Salvation Army, P.O.
