Feb. 21—The Temple Theatre latest show, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, takes the stage Thursday with a matinee show at 2 p.m.

The show has been described as a beautiful tribute to the life and music of Billie Holiday, in her final days before her untimely death at age 44, in 1959.

"It really gives you a behind the scenes look of what that time in her life was like," Ravenne Pantoja, Temple Theatre marketing director said. "Billie Holiday had a very distinct voice and you don't hear Jenece Upton, you really think you're listening to the real deal. It's going to be amazing."

Upton, as Billie Holiday, will be accompanied by a three-piece band, featuring Gavan Pamer playing piano, Larry Arnold on the upright bass, and Stephen Hambright on drums.

Tickets are $29 and can be purchased by visiting TempleShows.org, or by calling the box office Tuesday through Friday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Showtimes are Thurs., Saturdays and Sundays, 2 p.m., and Friday and Saturday evenings shows at 7 p.m.The show will run until March 12.
