Bills’ Jordan Poyer named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Poyer currently leads the NFL with four interceptions despite missing one game already in 2022. That’s very much due to his efforts in Baltimore where he recorded two picks.

Of his two takeaways, the second was the huge highlight.

In the fourth quarter during a tied game, 20-20, the Ravens opted to go for it on fourth down after driving the ball all the way down to Buffalo’s goal line. On the play, quarterback Lamar Jackson tossed a ball up that Poyer came down with.

The Bills offense ended up going on the game-winning drive with their ensuing possession.

Additionally, Poyer defended three total passes in the contest and had six tackles.

In 2021, Poyer earned his first All-Pro honors. However, the DPOW Award is the first time he earned weekly honors in his career.

Poyer’s Defensive Player of the Week win is the first time a Bills player has earned that designation in 2022. The last time was pass rusher Greg Rousseau in Week 5 of the 2021 season against the Kansas City Chiefs.
