Bills know they have to come out of bye week ‘really hungry’

Almost after every game, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen makes note of the “24-hour rule.”

Win or lose, Allen says the team will forget about the previous game after that amount of time and move forward.

However, Allen did bend that rule a bit last week as the Bills headed into their Week 7 bye.

Following Buffalo’s loss to the Tennessee Titans before the weekend off, Allen was asked if losing in dramatic fashion before the bye in 2020 will help this year. The QB said yes, kind of.

“I think it’s very similar feelings, the way we lost both games,” Allen said via video conference. “Typically, you don’t carry anything over from year-to-year, but we do have that type of experience going back to last year. Coming out of the bye week really hungry, really ready, and we got to go and do that again.”

The comparisons were easy to make.

The Titans stuffed Buffalo’s late QB sneak attempt by Allen, securing a win. A year ago, the Arizona Cardinals beat the Bills with a Hail Mary pass in the final moments.

If there were ever comparisons that can be made, that’s it for the Bills (4-2).

Two really tough losses happened, and hopefully in 2021, they’ll go on a winning streak like they did last season.

After that Cards loss, the Bills didn’t lose again until the AFC Title game.

Along with Allen, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott also referenced last week that the Bills have to be stronger after the bye week.

“Now we’ve got a week to sit on this one and learn from it and come back stronger,” McDermott said. “So that’s the goal every week, and that’ll be the goal next week.”

Thankfully for the Bills, they have a very good “get-right game” staring them in the face next week.

It’s the 1-6 Miami Dolphins, a team the Bills already shutout early this season, 35-0.
