TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The surprise concert of the year is nearly upon us, Tampa Bay.

Back in October 2023, the city officials and Mayor Jane Castor unveiled that the “Piano Man” himself and the “Police” man would be co-headlining a concert at the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a one-night-only experience.

The surprise was announced by displaying two Buccaneers jerseys with the singers’ names on them during a news conference.

“I was sworn to secrecy,” Mayor Jane Castor said in October, describing the concert as a big win.

The two legendary singers are set to perform at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 24, but will this be their first-ever performance together? Have Billy Joel and Sting held a concert together? What will their set list be like? WFLA is taking a look at all the possibilities.

Have Billy Joel and Sting held a concert together before?

Technically, no.

Billy Joel and Sting’s performance this weekend will mark the first time the two iconic singers will co-headline a concert with one another. However, it won’t be the first time the two have ever shared the stage.

While the two have never played a full co-headlining show, Billy Joel has performed at seven of Sting’s Rock for the Rainforest benefit concerts: 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, and 2008.

The last time the two sang together was when Joel brought Sting on stage as a surprise guest during his residency at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2014. Sting performed “Big Man On Mulberry Street” as Joel accompanied him on the keys.

Saturday’s concert will be the first time in over a decade that the two will take the stage together.

The Setlist

Since the two artists have no duets with each other, Billy Joel and Sting will perform a set of their own hits at the show.

So, what songs can fans expect to hear? For Billy Joel, it can almost be expected that he’ll perform his new single, “Turn the Lights Back On,” released on Feb. 1. Hits like “My Life,” “Zanzibar,” “The Longest Time,” “Vienna,” “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song),” “Piano Man,” and more are expected to be performed.

As for Sting, the former Police frontman, he’ll almost likely perform his top hits and The Police hits, such as “Roxanne,” “Englishman in New York,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” “Fields of Gold,” “Every Breath You Take,” and more.

Billy Joel and Sting will encapsulate the ’80s on Saturday, with the concert starting at 7 p.m. As of this report, standard admission tickets are still on sale with prices ranging from $299.50 to $419.50.
