How BU graduation will impact Vestal traffic

The university is expecting 23,000 guests throughout the weekend, Binghamton University's senior director of media and public relations Ryan Yarosh said, so they are asking people to try to avoid traveling on the Vestal Parkway when possible.

Other roads near campus may also experience a higher volume of traffic throughout the week, including Old Vestal Road, state Route 201, Bunn Hill Road and Murray Hill Road.

Starting with Wednesday's ceremony, the New York State University Police at Binghamton and Parking Services will conduct traffic control on campus, which will continue throughout the weekend, and "a majority of the department will be on hand at any given time to direct vehicles, assist with parking and pedestrians, and manage the flow of traffic both onto and exiting campus between ceremonies," Yarosh said.

"All Broome County police agencies, including the State Police, have been briefed on the schedule of activities and are aware of the volume of traffic to be expected throughout the weekend," he said.
