Bird's-eye view: Drone shows Oslo Road work toward I-95 interchange south of Vero Beach
INDIAN RIVER COUNTY − It's been five months since work began on western Oslo Road. Drone photos and video show what's being done west of 58th Avenue.
Plans are for a bridge replacement and an Interstate 95 interchange.
The $95.8 million undertaking wasn't expected to begin until 2026, according to Brian Freeman, Metropolitan Planning Organization staff director. It moved forward only when the Florida Department of Transportation received money from the American Rescue Plan.
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, also called the COVID-19 Stimulus Package is a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus bill bill signed into law by President Joe Biden on March 11, 2021, to speed up the country's recovery from the economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and recession.
Much of the property along Oslo Road east of I-95 is zoned industrial. One property northeast of the new interchange, currently zoned agricultural, is designated on future land-use maps as industrial.
What's the plan? I-95's new interchange at Oslo Road is four years away, but what's the plan for development?
