Birmingham stabbing spree suspect arrested

British police have arrested a man over the Sunday (August 6) stabbing spree that hit the city of Birmingham.

The 27 year-old suspect was detained in the Selly Oak area of the city early Monday morning, according to police.

The victims include a 23 year-old man who died, and seven others who were injured.

Two of them - man and a woman aged 19 and 32 - are said to be in critical condition.

The attacks happened in four separate locations over two hours.

Detectives said the stabbings appeared to be random, and were not thought to be gang-related or connected to terrorism.

Police still want to talk to witnesses who saw what happened, or who may have recorded the incident.
