BIRTHDAY OF THE DAY: Brian Morgenstern, White House deputy comms director and deputy press secretary

How/where are you celebrating your birthday and with whom? “Socially distant cocktails with friends and dinner at home with my girlfriend. (We tried to go exercise our 2nd Amendment rights, but the shooting range was too crowded!)”

How did you get your start in politics? “As a House page when I was in high school, sponsored by my then-hometown Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen.”

What’s an interesting book/article you’re reading during coronavirus social distancing? And why? Bari Weiss’ resignation letter. Cancel culture is corrosive, and diversity of thought is necessary for our country to remain free.”

What’s a trend going on in the U.S. or abroad that doesn’t get enough attention? “The speed at which the Trump administration and private sectors are delivering safe and effective treatments and vaccines for Covid-19. We are light years ahead of where we were just a few months ago because of Operation Warp Speed.”

How’s the Trump presidency going? “From tax cuts to judicial appointments to implementing the CARES Act and everything in between, President Trump has been incredibly effective at mobilizing our entire country to overcome challenges and create more opportunities for all Americans. He has completely changed the political landscape to give millions of people a stronger voice in D.C.”

What’s a fun fact that people in Washington might not know about you? “Before I moved to D.C., I was a lawyer in New York, but I also hosted a really fun variety show at Stand Up NY where pundits from the right and left could actually be friends and laugh together.”
