BIRTHDAY OF THE DAY: Wayne King, partner at Fidelis Government Relations

How/where are you celebrating your birthday and with whom? “I will be spending it with my family, likely at one of my favorite restaurants.”

How did you get your start in your career? “I have been involved in Republican politics all my adult life. I started out working as a volunteer for Republican candidates, then was elected to county party chairman, district chairman and then vice chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party. After my party stint, I went to work as deputy chief of staff/district director for Rep. Mark Meadows. In April of 2020 I joined Fidelis Government Relations as a partner.”

What’s an interesting book/article you’re reading during coronavirus social distancing? And why? “I am currently reading ‘Doesn’t Hurt to Ask’ by Trey Gowdy. Mr. Gowdy always impressed me by his interrogation tactics, and I remember being intrigued by this unique skill set.”

What’s a trend going on in the U.S. or abroad that doesn’t get enough attention? “The attack on religious liberty across the country and world.”

How’s the Trump presidency going? “I think the Trump presidency is going good. The promises he made on the campaign trail in 2016 are being delivered day by day. President Trump has been committed to the promises made/promises kept initiative, which is quite impressive in a town that often changes as the wind blows.”

What’s a fun fact that people in Washington might not know about you? “I often sing at church and have for many years.”
