Bishop Verot 14, Mariner 2: The Vikings (5-0) stayed undefeated to open the year behind an excellent hitting performance against the Tritons on the road. Josiah Velazquez led Bishop Verot offensively, going 3-for-3 with three RBI while Maddix Simpson went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Naples 7, Gulf Coast 5: The Golden Eagles picked up a road win over the Sharks, scoring six runs in the fourth inning. Johnny King had two RBI, while USF commit Jason Bello notched his second save of the year. Marcos Torres got the win on the mound.

Palmetto Ridge 5, CSN 1: The Bears used a four-run seventh inning to defeat the Seahawks, who committed four errors and surrendered three unearned runs.

Estero 14, Gateway Charter 4: The Wildcats picked up their first win of the season, downing the Griffins Wednesday night. Justin Breitenstein earned the win on the mound, striking out five batters in five innings. Offensively, Bryce Genton led Estero going 2-for-2 with two RBI.

SFCA 11, Oasis 1: Eli Moore notched a win on the hill, going five innings while allowing just three hits. He struck out seven Sharks, while Nick Long had a pair of home runs. Trevor Gould also had a home run and two hits.

Bonita Springs 5, St. John Neumann 0: No stats provided.

Seacrest Country Day 16, St. John Neumann 3: No stats provided.

Softball

Barron Collier 11, Palmetto Ridge 4: After three straight losses to begin the season, the Cougars got their second straight win after defeating the Bears. On the mound leading Barron Collier was Payton Heffelfinger, who allowed one earned run. Offensively, Sheila Forbes went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, Gianna Frino went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Gemma Fusco went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Cougars.

Bishop Verot 6, Mariner 1: Victoria Ash struck out 18 while allowing five hits and a run to pick up the complete-game win. Lillie Layne hit a bases-loaded double to help the Vikings pull away.

LaBelle 18, Immokalee 1: Cowgirls freshman Carli Spencer picked up the win on the mound, while sophomore Brilyn Capling went 4-for-4 with a triple.

Naples 10, Gulf Coast 4: Melissa Morales led the way for the Golden Eagles, finishing with a double, a pair of singles, and three RBI. UCF signee Macy Miles had a two-run home run while Joslyn Baker added two RBI.

Everglades City 16, CSN 5: Taylor Dahlke was the winning pitcher, while also finishing with a pair of stolen bases. Ava Ramos went 1-for-3 at the plate in a huge win over the Seahawks.

North Fort Myers 5, Cypress Lake 2: McKenna Robbins scored twice on hits by Sarah Yamrick and Megan Hall for the Panthers.

Riverdale 11, Lehigh 1: Ella Bundy went 2-for-3 while striking out six batters in the Raiders' win over the Lightning Thursday. Abigail Reyna hit a double and scored a run for Lehigh.

Riverdale 3, Mariner 2: Taylor Clayton and Ella Bundy led the Raiders in their win over the Tritons. Clayton and Bundy each had a pair of hits with an RBI. Clayton also struck out 12 batters Wednesday.

Boys Lacrosse

Immokalee 7, Lely 6: Scott Rickard and his Immokalee team notched their first win of the season, outlasting the Trojans. Noah Cardoza and Jesus Martinez both netted two goals in the win.

“We were able to get a lead in the first half and then allowed Lely back into the game with some sloppy offensive play,” Rickard said. “David Navarro played great for our defense and our goalie Antonio Toxqui had another big night in goal.”

Estero 23, Cypress Lake 0: The Wildcats shut out the Panthers, as Aiden McArthur netted six goals. Ryan Jackson and Justin Willems scored three times. Eli Dunford, Caleb Crowell, and Owen Beauschesne scored twice.

Girls Lacrosse

CSN 19, Venice 14: The sister duo of Emma and Ruby Smith led the Seahawks, defeating Venice for their first win of the season. Emma Smith led CSN with six goals while Ruby Smith added five.
