A plan to build a BJ’s Wholesale Club store in Mt. Juliet was approved Thursday by the city's planning commission.

BJ's Wholesale Club is a store for members headquartered in Westborough, Massachusetts. BJ's Wholesale Club has 224 stores in 17 states.

Plans are to build a store that is 104,353 square feet at Adams Lane in Mt. Juliet, within an approved mixed-use development named Providence Central.

A tire center that is just over 3,400 square feet and will be connected to the main building with its own entrance and a separate 214 square foot gas station on the property are also part of the plans.

Several traffic improvements are conditions to development.

Mt. Juliet city and planning commissioner Scott Hefner is familiar with BJ’s Wholesale Club from time spent in Florida. Hefner described BJ’s Wholesale Club as “the same concept,” as Sam’s Club or Costco.

Dunkin’ Donuts nears opening at Charlie’s Place: Work is underway on two buildings that are part of the development where The Incredible Christmas Place has opened.

Dunkin’ Donuts and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice will take up the majority of the second building with about 900 square feet remaining, property owner Judd Sellars said.

Sellars estimates Dunkin’ Donuts and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice can open around June.

There are discussions with a boutique to use about 1,000 square feet of the third building, which would leave about 2,000 square feet, Sellars said.

Charlie’s Place is now the name of the retail development named for Charlie Daniels.

The Incredible Christmas Place was the first store to open in Charlie’s Place in 2021.

Third Coast Salt Day Spa: Work is underway on a new building on Sunset Drive just west of North Mt. Juliet Road where Third Coast Salt Day Spa will open.

Third Coast Salt Day Spa is now located in the Smoothie King building further south on North Mt. Juliet Road.

The future building will be 5,000 square feet. Third Coast Salt Day Spa will take about 3,500 square feet with the rest of the space to be rented to a wellness company out of Texas.

Third Coast Salt Day Spa owner Shari Arnold is considering whether to keep the current 1,100 square foot space in the Smoothie King building as a satellite location.

The new building will allow Third Coast Salt Day Spa to increase from one massage room to three massage rooms and from two skin care rooms to five skin care rooms. Cryotherapy will also be offered and the new location will have a wet spa for women and a wet spa for men, Arnold said.

Late spring or early summer is the target date for the new building to be finished.
