Black Bear Diner, a popular California breakfast restaurant, opens in Fort Worth Alliance

Black Bear Diner has 157 locations across 14 states and offers a wide variety of menu items.

The first of two Black Bear Diners planned for North Texas has opened at a shopping plaza just across the I-35W from the Alliance Town Center, according to a company announcement.

The new 5,001-square-foot corporate-owned restaurant is on 9501 N. Freeway and will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Fort Worth is the first city in North Texas to get the popular northern California breakfast-and-pie diner, and now we’re getting two,” Star-Telegram columnists Bud Kennedy said in September 2022 in response to a reader question.

The restaurant chain is set to open another location next month in Burleson, “and is a part of the brand’s long-term plans to build out its presence in the Texas market,” the company says in its announcement.

Black Bear Diner operates 157 restaurants across 14 states offering a variety of menu items such as Sweet Cream Pancakes, Bob’s Big Bear Burger and Chicken Fried Steak. The restaurant will serve breakfast all day, every day, in addition to lunch and dinner, according to the company.

“Our founders built Black Bear Diner as a unique space where people can gather and enjoy a delicious meal together in a relaxing and fun environment. That sense of community and connection remains a core part of who we are today and extends to our fantastic franchise owners and development partners,” Anita Adams, CEO of Black Bear Diner, said in a statement last year announcing the company’s expansion plans. “We’re thrilled and honored to be growing in lockstep with our franchisees and look forward to bringing along new partners.”

The company in its announcement describes itself as, “One of the fastest-growing restaurant franchises in the country, famous for its home-style comfort foods and unique dining experience.”
