Random black cats may be an unwelcome sight for some people, but not in this case.

A black cat invaded the field in a Sunday afternoon match between Australian rugby league teams the Penrith Panthers and the Cronulla Sharks.

The cat turned out to be a pleasant distraction for fans, as home team the Panthers lost 26-10 to league leaders the Sharks. Anyway, enough about sportsball, here is the majestic feline that will become the hero of your hearts.

It isn't clear what happened to our new favourite black cat since Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch, as it left the field promptly after its brief adventure in professional sports.

The moment inspired its very own Twitter account and plenty of commentary online. It's clear, the fans want more cats.

OK, here is one more photo of the black cat.
