Black community leaders to be celebrated at Greensburg event

Feb. 15—Black community leaders will be honored this weekend at the Black History Month and American Health Month celebration from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the New Creation Family Worship Center at 119 Westmoreland Ave., Greensburg.

The identities of the community two leaders will not be revealed until Saturday, said a spokesperson for event sponsor Unity in the Community of Greensburg. Black American inventors will be celebrated from 2 to 3 p.m., following by the recognition of Black community leaders from 3 to 4 p.m.

"The covid-19 pandemic opened up so many people's eyes to the need for stronger systems of mental health support and recovery. We must transform our society, work together in unity to demand change and hold the people in power accountable to the needs of the people," said Ronel Baccus, the organizer of Unity in the Community.

Health screenings and covid vaccines will be available.

Those attending also can donate diapers for a diaper drive.

For more information, Baccus can be contacted RonelB724@gmail.com.
