Black Drone Operator Questions White Woman's Motives After Confrontation

A drone operator in Seattle, Washington, has accused a woman of racism in a Facebook post dated July 21 after she confronted him about taking video footage near her property.

Thomas Feezel, the proprietor of Thomas Samuel Media, recorded part of his encounter with a neighborhood woman who approached him asking why there was “a drone coming down on my house.”

“You’re gonna come over here cussing, saying I’m filming women, really?” Feezel, who is black, asks the woman. He adds that he is working for the real-estate brokerage Redfin.

“Yes, what is this doing here?” she says in response, motioning toward his drone, which is resting on the ground.

Feezel says again that he is working for Redfin. The woman asks his name, and says she is going to go call Redfin to verify his claim.

Feezel does not reveal his name and encourages the woman to make the phone call, and then says, “Go home, Karen,” as she walks away.

Feezel later confirmed to Storyful he is a third-party contractor, employed by Phixer. In a statement to Storyful, Redfin also confirmed Feezel was an employee of Phixer.
