Black Friday is coming to Wichita, and this one won’t leave after the holidays

If you’re the kind of person who likes hunting for Black Friday deals, there soon will be a whole Wichita store devoted to that.

Black Friday Deals is opening sometime before the actual Black Friday this year at Saddlecreek Crossing at 47th South and Broadway.

“It’s affordable for everyone,” general manager Nour Abuainein said of the store.

The chain is what’s known as a bin store concept that features overstocked or returned items from larger chains. Abuainein said there are items worth hundreds of dollars that will sell for only a few dollars.

Black Friday Deals is taking almost 27,000 square feet of the former Kmart space at Saddlecreek.

“It’ll be a big space,” said Hunter LaMunyon, the Lange Real Estate broker who handled the deal.

This is the same center where Ollie’s Bargain Outlet also is opening and Goodyear Tires and CSL Plasma already occupy part of the former Kmart store.

“We’re excited for the development here and just the additional activity in south Wichita,” LaMunyon said.

There are more than 30 Black Friday Deals stores nationally.

Abuainein said each Friday, there will be a new shipment of merchandise for sale.

“It’s everything,” he said of what the store offers. “It’s mixed.”

Each item will be $8 on Friday. By Saturday, the price drops to $6 an item, then $4 on Sunday, $2 on Monday, $1 on Tuesday and 50 cents on Wednesday.

The store will be closed for restocking on Thursday.

Abuainein said he plans to hire about 20 employees and open by early November.

He said he’s already thinking of a possible second Wichita Black Friday Deals, possibly somewhere on Rock Road.
