Black Friday: Major retailers in Alamance County participating in Black Friday

Thanksgiving marks the official start of the holiday season. And on its heels comes Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of they year.

Many major retailers have already kicked off their sales, but some have new discounts debuting on Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday. We've rounded up the deals available at five major retailers in Alamance County as well as what time stores open on Friday, Nov. 26.

Walmart

Stores Open: 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26

Locations: 3141 Garden Road, Burlington and 530 S. Graham-Hopedale Road, Burlington and 1318 Mebane Oaks Road, Mebane

In recent years, Walmart has opted for a Deals for Days campaign rather than a singular Black Friday shopping event. In the Deals for Days model, Walmart started unveiling deep discounts on sought-after products on Monday at 7 p.m. Walmart+ members got early access at 3 p.m.

The store is one of many major retailers that announced they would remain closed on Thanksgiving Day to give employees a much-needed break.

Among the best deals advertised are Xbox Series S and X consoles for $299 and $499 respectively, a PlayStation 5 console for $499, a Nintendo Switch with Mario Cart 8 Deluxe for $299, a 70-inch 4K Smart TV with Roku for $398, an Apple Watch Series 3 for $109, an air fryer for $69, an iRobot vacuum for $349, a projector with 100-inch screen for $49 and much more. Some deals are online only.

Stores Open: 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26

Location: 1475 University Drive, Burlington

Target will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but there is still plenty of time to score a good deal. The retailer dropped its Black Friday ads last week, announcing that deals would start as early as Monday Nov. 22. Some highlights of the early Black Friday deals include a 65-inch 4K Roku TV for $299, a Nintendo Switch bundle for $299, 40% off LEGO building sets, a KitchenAid stand mixer for $219, an Oculus Quest VR headset for $299, Bose headphones for $179, Apple watches starting at $169, over 75 video games for just $20, plus a wide range of toy deals.

Additional deals with launch on Thanksgiving Day (online only) and last in store and online through Saturday, Nov. 27. Discounts include 30% off cold weather accessories for the family, 50% off boots for the family, a GoPro bundle for $250, 20% off Baby Alive toys, select small kitchen appliances on sale from $40 and sales on kids clothing.

Target also offers a holiday price match guarantee, which means shoppers can get a partial refund if the price of an item drops lower at Target between the date of purchase and Dec. 24.

Location: 1465 University Drive, Burlington

Like Walmart and Target, Best Buy will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The retailer, however, started its holiday season deals on Oct. 18 and will continue offering discounts through Black Friday, with the best deals launching on Nov. 19. Best Buy’s advertised deals include an Acer gaming monitor for $300, a 75-inch 4K Smart TV for $850, a limited edition single serve Keurig machine for $50, $60 savings on Fitbit Versa smartwatches, a Cricut Explore Air 2 for $170, up to $200 in savings on select iPad models and up to $400 in savings on select Windows laptops. Discounts on video games, major appliances, cell phones and more are also available.

Best Buy also offers a price match guarantee. Best Buy Totaltech and My Best Buy members can get a partial refund if an item drops in price between the date of purchase and Black Friday with the Black Friday Price Guarantee. The store’s price match policy is also in effect through the holiday season for non-members, with some exclusions.

Stores Open: 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26

Location: 3187 Watermill Drive, Burlington

Black Friday at Belk is not limited to just one day, but rather will run through Nov. 27. Like many retailers, Belk will be closed Thanksgiving Day, but will open early on Black Friday. Deals include 65% of select men’s clothing brands, 50% Champion clothing for men and women, $20 women’s shoes, $50 luggage sets, $70 Frigidaire stand mixers, $60 Amazon Fire kids tablets, up to 65% off kitchen essentials, up to 75% off luggage sets, and up to 80% off Belk & Co. fine jewelry.

Store Opens: 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26

Location: 1361 Boone Station Drive, Burlington

Black Friday deals at Kohl’s started Sunday, Nov. 21, and run through Saturday, Nov. 27. Super Deals will kick off online Thanksgiving Day and at 5 a.m. in stores on Black Friday. Discounts are available on tech, toys, clothing and more. Some highlights include an Amazon Fire HD tablet for $45, Fitbit smartwatches for $120, 30% off LEGO sets, Ninja indoor grills and air fryers for $170, Shark vacuums for $120, Google Nest Mini speakers for $25, toys from $25 with select brands buy one, get one 50% off and much more.

Shoppers can earn $15 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent through Nov. 27 and a coupon for an additional 15% off in store and online through Nov. 26 is available.

Stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but online shopping is an option if you’d like to score your discounts early.
