In October 1943, Dr. Eric G. Roberts, a graduate of Howard University's School of Medicine, arrived in Rockford.

Stationed at St. Anthony Hospital as a physician, he notably offered his services to people of all backgrounds and incomes.

Unconventionally, Roberts incorporated hypnosis into his medical procedures, even employing it during major surgical procedures and childbirth.
