Dozens of activists from the Black Lives Matter movement held a rally outside Trump Tower in New York on Friday to call for police reform and transparency in high-profile cases. (July 28)
- Thanks for ensuring [INAUDIBLE] here today. Thank you, Reverend McCall. Thank you, Crisis Action. I'm inspired to be a part of this movement. How the [INAUDIBLE] was invited here today to register voters with you all and-- thank you all.
GWEN CARR: What do we mean by Black lives matter? It can't only mean one thing and don't mean the other. It can't only mean Black lives matter when we are murdered by the police.
GWEN CARR: Black lives matter when we are murdered with street violence.
GWEN CARR: Black lives matter when we are unfairly treated in the school system.
GWEN CARR: With unemployment and employment. Black lives matter when we're trying to earn a living wage which most of us don't earn a living wage even if we have college degrees.
- --our community. Who's in our community helping us get out? Nobody's in our comm--
- None of that. Enough is enough. And that's it. Thank y'all for living there.
TERRENCE FLOYD: They grabbed the young trans woman, and she fell on the floor. They didn't even handcuff her. They just started stuffing her in the car.
- (YELLING) Busting again!
TERRENCE FLOYD: So when we came to her defense, if you've seen-- I know everybody's seen the videos, 'cause they went viral. The police officer, the first thing he did was grab his gun.
TERRENCE FLOYD: That's a form of intimidation. And they good for that. They good for pulling their sticks, They good for smacking it across the floor. But we not afraid, and we not going nowhere!
